The project is located on the Expo 2020 site in the Dubai South region close to Al Maktoum International Airport. The plant serves the areas of EXPO Metro station, Conference and Exhibition Centre, Dubai South Mall and EXPO Village which consist of 15 residential buildings.

The plant is operational and currently serving developments that have been completed. Recently DWTC has won a 2020 National Winner Award for EXPO Park and District Cooling Plant in the Small Projects of the Year Category at the MEED Projects Awards 2020.
